We’re fortunate to have a talented and capable cadre of dedicated medical providers who volunteer their time at our Monday and Thursday STD / HIV clinics and at special events.
We are always interested in hearing from advanced providers currently licensed to practice in Connecticut who are interested in assisting with our STD screening and treatment programs:
- Licensed Physicians (DO and MD)
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Physician Assistant (PA)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
We also value volunteers with other medical backgrounds including
- HIV Testers/Counselors
- Mental Health and Social Workers including psychologists, LMFT, CFT, and Substance Abuse Counselors
- EMTs of all levels including EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced and EMT-Paramedic
- Other Allied Health professionals
- Active students of all health professions
Note that ALL volunteers are subject to criminal background checks, license/certification verification, reference checks, and insurance checks at any time at the discretion of HGLHC.
Duties and Time Commitment
Our medical volunteers typically volunteer at one-two clinic nights per month – about 4 hours. Plan on arriving shortly before 6pm and leaving between 8:00pm and 9:00pm. We stop accepting new patients after 8:00pm.
Duties for all providers include abiding by the volunteer handbook, maintaining client confidentiality, complying with all State and Federal laws (including HIPAA, FERPA, and HIV confidentiality laws) acting within scope of practice, and maintaining professionalism at all times.
