The world comes together every World AIDS day to remember those we’ve lost and those living with HIV / AIDS. Here at the Health Collective, we are especially proud of the services we offer to people living with HIV and AIDS and the programs we manage to prevent new infections.
At the same time, we were saddened to see the latest CDC report “HIV Among Youth – Protecting A Generation” published this week. While it does not come as a surprise to those of us working in this field that youth, men who have sex with men, and those of color account for a disproportionate number of new cases – each case is a young life that will now be changed forever. The effect on young men who have sex with men is particularly damaging.
This holiday season – please – get tested. Know your status. Protect yourself and your partners and use condoms consistently.
