On November 13 our MpowerCT guys helped host a very special panel on living with HIV entitled “Is he Pos? Coming Out as HIV Positive.”

The panel discussion was mainly geared towards gay and bi men – who continue to make up a majority of new infections. Speakers included 3 gay men living with HIV, including a young gay man who was born with the virus.

Topics included what it’s like to come out as being positive, and what they’ve found when they try to date, fears of rejection and concerns over infecting others.

We had more than 20 guys join us for this meeting and several members expressed interest in having guest speakers address other issues of importance including cancer in young guys, accepting FTM gay men, and challenging some perceptions in the community that make it challenging for gay men who have suffered serious injury including amputation and loss of genital function to date and find love.
