Good things keep getting better and the Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective’s One Big Event will be the best place to be on Saturday, November 21 at the Connecticut Convention Center. Plans are moving full steam ahead and the planning committee is excited about the most recent developments.

OBE_Woman 1We are thrilled that Aetna will again be the BIGGEST Sponsor of OBE. Their donation of $15,000 will mark their second year as the lead supporter of the Health Collective’s annual gala. Aetna has been a long time friend of the LGBT community. They have been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign with a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2015 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality. The survey is administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBT equality. This is the HRC’s thirteenth Corporate Equality Index survey, and Aetna has received a perfect score every year since its creation-the only company to have done so in its industry.

OBE_Man 1Even more impressive is the level of support that Aetna shows towards the LGBT community in their hometown of Hartford. There is no better example than their support of the Health Collective and One Big Event. Everyone benefits from the leadership and involvement that Aetna exhibits every day.

Another example of generous support of time and talent is the wonderful new look of One Big Event courtesy of our friends at Adams & Knight. Our ad campaign is fun and retro. It’s Mad Men meets Alfred Hitchcock. Think Don Draper sharing a drink with Cary Grant. Or Grace Kelly and Eva Marie Saint slipping away to the women’s room for a tete-a-tete. It’s a whole new level of sophistication and hip nostalgia. The fifties never were so stylish or so queer. Look out for our ads and announcement in the coming months. We think you’ll love the look as much as we do.

If this sounds intriguing, we encourage you to be a part of the One Big Event phenomenon. We still need other sponsors to keep the momentum going. Or place an ad in our program book to promote an event, business or nonprofit organization. If you’d like to attend, when not get a bunch of friends or colleagues together and be a part of the Host Committee? Do you have something for our Auction? Your donation is appreciated and tax deductible. For more information, check out our Facebook page, www.hglhc.org or call Dan Millett at (860)278-4163 x18.
