The One Big Event Auction is Coming!
You won’t believe your eyes when
you enter the Auction Room of the Hartford Gay & Lesbian
Health Collective’s One Big Event. The
excitement takes place at the Hilton Hartford Hotel in
Saturday, Nov. 12th starting at 6:00pm. And that’s just the
beginning! Wait until you see the items we have for the
Live Auction!
From wonderful excursions to
awesome dinning experiences to exciting theater to the
coolest electronic gadgets to breathtaking art – you’ll see
it all at One Big Event. And even better –
you have the opportunity to take these remarkable items home
with you. All you need to do is place your bid. But be
warned! The competition will be fierce!
Want to get away to the Big
Apple? We’ve got it! Have a two night stay at one of four
Kimpton Hotels in Manhattan. This award-winning hotel chain
promises and delivers a luxurious stay that you won’t
forget. Plus you’ll enjoy tickets to a hit Broadway show
and dinner at a marvelous restaurant. New York will never
be as romantic when you and that special someone experience
it together.
Fine art will be prominently
featured at this year’s auction, many from renowned local
artists. We have an oil on aluminum painting from West
Hartford native Ric Ide; a piece from Hartford artist Carey
Smith and from Ellen Carey, one of her pioneering creations
using the world's largest instant camera, the Polaroid 40 X
80, Carey has created a series of monumental "pulls," which
defy all preconceived notions of photographic reality. This
is a rare opportunity to add to your art collection.
There will be certificates for
spa treatments, the latest in personal software, theater
tickets, antiques, services for your pet, gift baskets, and
more items are coming in daily! You’re sure to find the

One Big Event is a
fundraiser for the Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective,
the largest organization in the state devoted to the LGBT
and HIV/AIDS communities. The funds raised from the
evenings’ festivities go toward programs and services. The
evening starts with cocktails at 6:00pm and ends at midnight
when the band plays their last song. Tickets are $125, $175
and $225. Our Really, Really Big Sponsors are The
Hartford Courant, Macy’s, TD Bank and Van Horst Commercial
Construction. The Honorary Host is Hartford Mayor Pedro
Segarra. E. John McGarvey and Nancy Meyer are the
